Question
....regardin biddah mny of us r confused whether celebratin milad un nabwi (prophet's bday on 12 rabbi awal) was a practisin of the prophets tym or is it created newli n is a biddah???
Answer
As Salam O Alaikum Wa RahmanTullahi Wa Barakatuh
Praise be to Allah.
First off, celebrating Milad-un-Nabi is a Bid'ah (innovation) in Islam. There is no proof concerning this issue in the Qur'an or the authentic Sunnah.
The general rule in Islam is that anything which is done needs to have evidence backing it up either from the Qur'an or the authentic Sunnah.
Islam has been taken as a hostage by those different traditions and cultures and each of these traditions and cultures tend to innovate new things in this 'perfected' religion as said by Allah (SWT) in:-
This day have I perfected your religion for you, completed My favour upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion.
(Surah Maidah, Verse 3)
Same is the case with Milab-un-Nabi. It was never celebrated by Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him). Let alone this fact, it was never even celebrated by the Sahabas!
It's a challenge to anyone to provide a single verse from the Qur'an or a single reliable Hadith to support their claim that celebrating Milab-un-Nabi is allowed in Islam.
Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) said:-
“The most truthful of speech is the Book of Allaah and the best of guidance is the guidance of Muhammad, and the most evil of things are those which are newly-invented.” And he (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever innovates anything in this matter of ours (i.e., Islam), that is not part of it will have it rejected.” (Narrated by al-Bukhaari, no. 2697; Muslim, no. 1718). According to a version narrated by Muslim, “Whoever doe anything that is not in accordance with this matter of ours (i.e., Islam), will have it rejected.”
Those Hadiths are an undeniable and a clear cut evidence that innovations such as Milab-un-Nabi is something that'll be rejected.
Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) never spoke anything about Islam of himself. Rather, whatever he spoke was from Allah (SWT). So, it is Allah (SWT) who Himself will reject those innovations which people do without any knowledge.
Brother, we urge you to go through the following link as it has the ultimate answer to your question which will, without a shadow of doubt, end all the confusions concerning the issue of celebrating Milab-un-Nabi. The following link is filled with tremendous amount of details as to who was the first person ever recorded in the books of history to start this reprehensible innovation. It also has the arguments to all the excuses put forward by the people who believe in this reprehensible innovation.
Before giving you the link, there is a point we are willing to mention. Had celebrating Milab-un-Nabi been something good and rewarding, the Prophet (Peace be upon him) himself would have had done that or would've told us to do it.
This fact is a proof in itself that celebrating Milab-un-Nabi is a reprehensible Bid'ah which has, whatsoever, no basis at all in the whole Islam.
Any religious scholar who make issue a religious verdict (fatwa) declaring Milab-un-Nabi something which has to be celebrated, cannot produce any single proof from Quran and the authentic Sunnah to back up his claim. Such a fatwa will only constitute hadiths with other self made explanations threaded to them.
Imagine, such a famous Bid'ah doesn't even has any explicit proof.
